Cherry Murray is the president of the American Physical Society and the Dean of the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Science. She is the John A. and Elisabeth S. Armstrong Professor of Engineering and Applied Science.

The Role of Physicists in the 21st Century

Some call the 19th Century the golden age of physics, and the 20th Century the golden age of biology as well as the information age. What is in store for physics as a discipline in the 21st century? I will present my thoughts on the excitement of new explorations we couldn't do before as well as some challenges for the field. I will also talk about the role of physics and physicists in addressing today's multidisciplinary societal challenges.
